It’s Greek to Me!

I could honestly say that Greek food is my husbands favorite. He LOVES tzatziki sauce and can literally eat it out of the bowl. Crazy boy! Surprisingly a healthy no fuss Greek meal is easy to make, especially on the BBQ grill. Here’s what I did…


Greek Inspired Chicken Kabobs:

1 green bell pepper diced into chunks

5 small sweet peppers cut into chunks

1/2 red onion diced into large chunks

3 chicken thighs cut into chunks

6 wooden sticks moistened

Dried oregano

salt & pepper

olive oil

Alternate the meat and vegetables on the wooden sticks. With this amount of food, 6 sticks can be easily made. Season with about 2 tablespoons of organo and salt & pepper. Lastly drizzle with olive oil before putting on the grill. Cook for approximately 20-25 minutes or chicken is fully cooked.


Tzatziki Sauce:

1 plain non fat Greek yogurt

1/2 English cucumber shredded

1 lemon juiced

1 garlic clove minced

1 tsp dried dill

salt & pepper

Mix all the above ingredients in a small bowl. Season with salt to your liking. Top with s drizzle of olive oil. You may also add feta cheese if you’re a cheese lover.


I completed our Greek inspired dinner with grilled potatoes and a side salad. Mmm mmm mmm! Such a good meal for a hot summer night!









Oaktown Spice Shop

I’ve been dreaming of going to this store for almost a year now! I heard about it online and was super excited that it’s not too far away from where we live. Last year we were in the city and this was our final spot to check out. Unfortunately, due to the crazy unpredictable Bay Area traffic (eye roll), I was just 5 minutes too late. They literally closed just a few minutes before we arrived. I was sooo disappointed. Fast forward to last weekend, our anniversary weekend, and we made it! This place is a cook’s dream! Every spice you could think of, they had it. Fresh and ready to customize to your personal blend. The employees were extremely helpful and informative. They showed us the most popular spices as well as gave us recommendations. My husband said I was like a kid in a candy store! I seriously would give them all my money if needed. I chose a few spices to add to my collection. I’ll post a picture of my loot. This little gem will be seeing me quite frequently! For anyone visiting, you can purchase spice jars there or buy the spices in little plastic bags to transfer to your own jars. Also they will customize any

spice mix for you. If you’re looking for a useful and practical gift, they also have gift boxes. This place stole my foodie heart.

Marinated Bok Choy

Marinate your veggies for BBQ 🔥It packs in more flavor and you can use the leftover marinade for a sauce or use it on your protein (meat, tofu, etc.) We’re grilling bok choy and used the following ingredients:
4 tbsp soy sauce
3 tbsp ponzu sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbs rice vinegar
2 inch piece of ginger sliced
2 garlic cloves
White Pepper Salt

Why is blogging so difficult?!

So I’m giving the website thing another try. I so badly want a space to post recipes and more pictures but man…this bloggin’ thing aint easy. I keep trying to figure out which platform is easier; blogspot or wordpress. It seems like WordPress is the winner since its the most user-friendly. I so wish someone could do this for me but it’ll be worth the learning curve. Hopefully within a few months I will be a Pro, but in the meantime please have patience. Also if you are a blogger, send me some tips please. Yay for blogging, this is so 2017! ha!

On a foodie note, look at all this yummy goodness! We recently tried a new place in Sacramento called Cantina Alley. Its literally IN a alley downtown. Its like you’re stepping into a little Mexican joint. Fully equipped with cactus, Spanish music, wooden mexican furniture, bright colored walls and out of this world tacos. Fish tacos were my favorite along with a house margarita. Can wait to go back. Muy Bueno!


Almond Butter Protein Bars


Almond Butter Protein Bars

3/4 cup of old fashioned oats

18 dates

1/4 cup cashews, raw unsalted

1/4 cup of other dried fruit (raisins,cherries, pineapple, etc.)

3 tablespoons of coconut flakes, unsweetened

1/4 almond butter, unsalted

In a food processor, first pulse oatmeal until it becomes a powder. Next add the dried fruit and cashews. Blend until coarse. Add almond butter and a couple teaspoons of water. Blend until it starts to come together. It will darken but still remain crumbly. You should be able to pinch the mixture. Now on a clean board or some wax paper, pour the mixture on top and form Into either a large rectangle to cut into bars or you can make little protein balls. I wrap my bars in parchment paper to stay fresh. If you make protein balls, be sure to store in a airtight container. These will last for a week in the refrigerator.
